Is youth our strength ?

With the arrival of 2012, we have experienced hospital twice. First in January, my father got heart attack and recently in March, my mother had operation of gall bladder. Both are recovering very well MASHALLAH.
Both the times we experienced a lot.  So many things I see in hospital and God forbid everyone from any situation which brings them into hospital. I stayed two days and nights there with my mother. I used to wake up all the night, sometimes I walked in the corridor while my mother was asleep. The HDU ward was right outside. I sometimes peeped into the HDU and other wards. Patients fitted with number of pipes and wires, my heart squeezed whenever I saw them.
As I stayed, one thing I noticed was extremely disappointing. Almost 70% of the patients were young, fighting between life and death. In the morning most of them were walking in the corridor while my mother noticed the same. Except an old woman, all of them were young in their twenties and thirties, accompanied with one of their parents who were helping them holding their pipes. God knows from how many diseases they were suffering from. The most distressing moment was when my father was in heart hospital, I saw two boys (who were in their early thirties) died of heart attack. I was wondering why the youngsters are in so much trouble.
Now look at the reasons, how many of us walk daily? I am sure nobody. Even when we want to go to the nearby market we prefer to go by bikes and cars but never bother to go by walk. If we ponder over our diet, what we would like to eat all the time is totally impure. How many us want to eat loki, kaddu, began, bhindi etc.? Very few. Our demands are mostly burgers, pizzas, tikkas, and every type of fried and spicy things without adding to consider about its nutritional facts. In schools, offices, university and offices, some people feel ashamed to bring homemade food with them and very happily eat poisonous food daily. We love to have soft drinks instead of having 8 glass of water daily.

Even if we think to eat simple meat and vegetable, they are grown in the polluted water. Moreover, the fertilizers used in plants are mixed with urea and other chemicals. When talk about animals, they are fed artificial foods.
Moreover, smoking is becoming a fashion, especially among young boys which is inviting more diseases. Even those who don’t smoke cigarette, smoke passively. The increasing pollution doesn’t allow us to inhale pure oxygen. Now let’s talk about our routine which has high impact on our health. How many of us used to sleep early and wake up early? This is perhaps hard thing to do. I call it the part of fashion, people love to spent time on phones, internet and listening to FM late nights. Our health is very much depend upon our routine i.e., our sleeping timings, dinner time, lunch time etc.
Youth is said to be the strength of nation. But very unluckily, our strength is going weak. What would be the condition of a nation if its youth were not healthy? May ALLAH protect us from every disease and make our youth and nation strong. Amen.
